Spirulina Superfood!!

Spirulina Superfood

Our organic Spirulina Powder is a true green superfood! Spirulina is a blue-green algae. It is a simple, one-celled form of algae that thrives in warm, alkaline fresh-water bodies. The name spirulina is derived from the Latin word for helix or spiral; denoting the physical configuration of the organism when it forms swirling, microscopic strands.

Spirulina Spirulina is being developed as the food of the future because of its amazing ability to synthesize high-quality concentrated food more efficiently than any other algae. Most notably, Spirulina is 65 to 71 percent complete protein, with all essential amino acids in perfect balance. In comparison, beef is only 22 percent protein. "I add the spirulina powder in the green smoothies that I make and drink each day. I add fresh garden and wild greens with some fresh or frozen fruit and then a tablespoon of the spirulina powder and blend in a blender until smooth and creamy."

If you are just beginning to use Spirulina powder, use 1-2 tsp. per recipe until you adjust to the taste. Add Spirulina towards the end of the cooking process, as the most benefit will be received the less it is heated. You can add it to any of your existing recipes. It is a dry ingredient so add it to the recipe accordingly. The recipes below are all very nutritious. We hope you enjoy them!
